Homemade steamed bun (attempt #1)

I fell in love with steamed buns, and recently attempted to make my first batch. The filling was good, but the only thing I have to improve is the bun. It came out nicely for the eyes, but too thick and not soft enough for the taste.

DH laughed when we cut the minced pork filling I wrapped. See how thick it is at the top:


Then we cut the red bean bun that he wrapped. It doesn't look any better: it's super thick at the bottom. It was my turn to laugh, but I didn't, hehe.

That will be a challenge for me for the upcoming batch(es): a soft steamed dough.
