Gift Wrap

Happy New Year 2010, everyone!!! I got a bit confused with the new decade, but I learned from school (way way back) that the new decade starts with a "1". Therefore 1 more year to go, before wishing you a happy new decade (2011-2020). Haha.

Not long ago, I was watching this interesting video tutorial by Shiho Matsuda on Youtube. I love her crafty ideas on eco-friendly gift wrapping, and this one is my first try. I didn't have a brown paper bag... so I bought a brown gift wrap from Ikea instead. I didn't have raffia, so I used ribbons instead.

What you need:
  • brown paper bag or brown gift wrap
  • raffia or ribbons
  • scissors
  • tape
  • markers (red, blue, green)

After measuring the size needed for my gift wrap, I started to draw my lines with the colored markers. That's why I find the brown gift wrap interesting: I can create my own designs. Instead of straight lines, I can draw circles, or write down repeated words diagonally such as "love love love", etc.

My lines are not straight... well, that can be the beauty of it (haha... trying to praise the non-artists here). Here's the candy gift wrap:

For the gift label, I used a pair of wavy scissors, a hole puncher, and a reusable paper:

Hope you'll enjoy it!
